World Water Day
is the occasion observed at the NYC spring fundraising event on Tuesday March 22, 2011 to benefit
Building Community Bridges
Organized and hosted by Building Community Bridges, the event will take place at the Phillips Club, Manhattan, at 155 West 66 Street starting at 6 p.m.
Building Community Bridges, Inc. (BCB) is a grassroots 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization launched in 2006 guided by a profound commitment to raise the quality of life in rural villages in West Africa. Part of BCB's mission is to provide clean drinking water to as many communities as possible. Come join us and learn about how BCB's solar water energy pump is changing lives in the village of Koussougba, Togo!
Since its inception, BCB has become the “bridge” that connects this underprivileged demographic with technological resources. The foundation has provided Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Program training to villagers and is currently in the process of building the first solar energy water pump in the Plateau Region of Togo. This year the Segal Family Foundation will match up to $5,000 in donations from the event to benefit the implementation of similar water and sanitation based programs.
This is a FREE fundraising and networking event featuring invited speaker Becky Straw, co-founder of the Adventure Project and formerly a Program Manager at Charity Water. She will discuss the significance of ensuring the human right to water in West Africa. Becky obtained a Master's in International Social Welfare & Social Enterprise from Columbia University and she is a friend and supporter of BCB. The BCB team hopes to see you there!
